Our team’s recently completed low-rise apartment block, Threeplusone, has been recognised at this year’s Premju Galizia Awards. The project aims to introduce an alternative approach to small- scale residential design, characterised by sensitivity, simplicity of form, and utility. The project was named winner of Housing Project Award as well as the President’s Award Special Commendation in this year’s awards edition.
In their assessment, the award judges noted that, “the [housing] category was introduced this year to highlight the benefits of meaningful architecture applied to the multiple housing typology, both with regards to people who dwell within the building as well as the neighbourhood. The jury reviewed two very competent examples, and is proud to announce Threeplusone by Valentino Architects as the winner of this category. The building is bold in its search for simplicity and beauty in an area where many architects have left their mark, but which is losing its qualities through a series of repetitive apartment developments. It is consistent in its detailing throughout and displays the benefit of architectural sensitivity and thought even when applied to the speculative apartment block”. We would like to thank the Kamra tal-Periti for this recognition as well as our team for their hard work and dedication on this project.
