Mill House, Valentino Architects’ residential conversion of a cluster of heritage-listed buildings in the village of Attard, Malta, has been featured on Dezeen and Archdaily. The design for the project links three Grade I and II Listed buildings, including a mill room dating to around the mid- to-late 16th century, introducing new cohesion and positioning an outdoor courtyard as a central connecting space. A glazed walkway, which is invisible from the street, creates a continuous passage between the volumes, its glazing transforming from reflective surface to translucency as the day shifts from morning to night.

The design for Mill House aligns with Valentino Architects’ ongoing drive to position renovation and re-use as a default architectural approach in Malta. Together with the studio’s existing portfolio

of retrofit projects, Mill House serves as an ambassador for innovation in heritage conservation, balancing preservation with a deliberate contrast between old and new.
