The German Iconic Awards, organised by the German Design Council, honour holistic projects in the fields of architecture, interior architecture, product design and brand communication. Valentino Architects’ booking office renovation for eCABS has been named a winner within the ‘Interior Spaces’ category as part of this year’s awards.
Located in an urban core in St Julian’s, eCabs finds its home within an intense mix of touristic and recreational activity. The outlet provides cab services to passers-by in one of Malta’s busiest night life hubs, and therefore has been designed to stand out from surrounding contextual chaos and formal incoherence – its material purity and offering elegant contrast to the surrounding saturation. The ambition of the project aims to reflect the philosophy of eCABS itself, which is all about efficiency. The booking office subsequently had to prioritise function and durability within its limited footprint. Valentino Architects is honoured to have been recognised by the German Design Council – our team remains motivated to creating architecture that has functional and aesthetic longevity at every scale.
