Valentino Architects has been awarded an International Architecture Award 2025 for Dar San Rokku in the Restoration/Renovation category.
Organised annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd., the International Architecture Awards are dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point-of-view.
Recognised in the Restoration/Renovation category, Dar San Rokku exemplifies Valentino Architects’ approach to reimagining Malta’s historic fabric, sensitively balancing heritage conservation with contemporary design.
This year’s jury – composed of leading architects, designers, educators, and critics Sang Dae Lee, Flavio Manzoni, CHIU Chen-Yu and Almantas Samalavičius – assessed submissions from across the globe, selecting projects that represent the most innovative and significant contributions to the built environment today.
The award winners will be celebrated at the official Awards Gala Reception and Ceremony in Athens, Greece in September. In conjunction with the ceremony, a special exhibition titled “The City and the World” will be held to mark the inauguration of the newly expanded Contemporary Space Athens. The exhibition will feature all winning projects, including Dar San Rokku, and will run as part of the Museum’s international public education initiatives. Winning projects will also be featured in the forthcoming publication Global Design + Urbanism XXV: New International Architecture 2025, providing a comprehensive overview of this year’s honoured works.
