Valentino Architects has been shortlisted at this year’s World Architecture Festival (WAF) and Inside World Festival of Interiors. Launched in 2008, the two events form part of a combined festival dedicated to celebrating the best examples of current and future projects in global architecture and design.
Valentino Architects’ design for the care village Ħal-Caprat has been selected amongst six other projects globally as a shortlisted scheme in the WAF Future Projects Health category. The studio’s retrofit project, La Serenissima, joins five other shortlisted projects in the Inside Residential Apartment award category.
Both projects will be presented live at the festival in Lisbon between 30 November and 02 December, delivered to an audience of thousands of architects, interior designers, critics and industry leaders. A final award ceremony will take place at the end of the festival, naming one building as winner for each of the individual awards’ categories, as well as one overall project as World Building of the Year. Past winners have included Snøhetta, Foster + Partners, Sou Fujimoto and David Chipperfield amongst other internationally renowned studios.
Entries are submitted anonymously from practices all around the world, with shortlisted project presentations interspersed with speaker events throughout the course of the festival. Together, WAF and Inside are known as biggest architectural events globally, offering a comprehensive snapshot of the industry’s current design preoccupations and future trajectories.
